‘Skärtorsdag’ (Maundy Thursday) is when the witches fly to ‘Blåkulla’ - apparently to dance with the devil on their broomsticks!
Many houses are decorated with hanging witch decorations, and children traditionally dress up as ‘Påskkärringer’ (Easter witches), though sometimes, it seems, a ‘Påskgubbar’ (Easter Old Man) or an Easter hare for the boys, has been added in modern times!
Maya joined some of the neighbourhood children for an Easter walk (unfortunately Leon was unwell, and Alfie was asleep!). The children make Easter cards to give away, in exchange for sweets or money.
