Yes, okay, a month late – but better late than never!!
Christmas was lovely. We spent it at “farmor’s” (granny) with all the swedish aunties, uncles and cousins. “Tomten” (Father Christmas) came, and the kids all received some wonderful presents, plus we ate the obligatory meatballs, porridge and pickled herring!
Despite being unwell with ‘flu, we had a lovely calm Christmas holiday. The weather got quite cold, (down to -12 degrees centigrade on some days), and we spent many of the days walking and ice-skating on the frozen lakes. It was outstandingly beautiful – when it is that cold, the sun shines, and the sunsets are amazing! Leon has become fairly confident on skates now, but Maya prefers to slide on her boots!!!
We even managed to see someone catch a gigantic pike when ice fishing! Not my cup of tea, but great for the kids to get an understanding of survival in the arctic!!!
January has passed, and Leon has barely been at school due to various colds, ear infections, and the ominous vomiting bug! The same with Maya of dagis. It’s been great!!!
We’ve had some lovely play days. Leon is still obsessed with numbers (“Give me a plus mamma!”), adding simple tunes to his keyboard repetoire and repetitively practicing these, and now likes to read to himself in the evenings. Maya is into Pippi Longstocking, and must read all the books, watch the films and roleplay being Pippi (she recently bought a Pippi wig with her pocket money…). Both kids are into building robots from a gears construction kit and roleplaying with them, building various dens, and now playing shops – in which they have set up their own shops in their rooms, priced their belongings, and subsequently spend their pocket money on eachother’s things….!!! Alfie is into cars, cars and the occasional bus!
Here are some random photos….
I just love these kids!
