Småland – Astrid Lindgren’s World : Days 3 & 4

One of our main reasons for visiting Vimmerby was to make a trip to “Astrid Lindgren’s World”. We spent two whole days at this fantastic theme park, based on all of Lindgren’s children’s stories, with interactive theatre performances, singing, and some fantastic playgrounds!

The first story set was based on Nils Karlsson Pyssling – a small person in a big world!

We also watched some fantastic theatre shows from the stories of “Emil” – one of which Maya managed to get herself involved in!

“Karlsson på taket” also put on a show for us …

This literally means “Karlsson on the roof”, and the setting for his story was an amazing playground of houses and slides!

One of the favourites was “Ronja Rövar Dotter” (Ronja the robber’s daughter), where the children could climb up onto a high cliff and watch the performance, and afterwards enjoy climbing up and around the castle set.

Of course, “Pippi Longstocking” was there – and she had many many fans!!!

And “Rasmus pa luffan” (Rasmus and the tramp) – there he is, next to Leon…

And a rather funky jazz band playing songs from the films!
