Let’s Bake Tweetie Pies!

This week has been full of little visits from our local woodpecker – but it’s also been cold, and a good time for some baking!

Time to bake treats that both people AND birds might enjoy then….

We made ‘Tweetie Pies’!

225g porridge oats

150g butter

100g brown sugar

2 tablespoons honey

and a delicious assortment of healthy treats!

We chose …. pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, raisins, coconut shreds and almonds.


Set oven to 195 degrees C.

Mix butter and sugar.

Add oats and mix.

Add other dry  ingredients (as much or little as you like).

Add honey and mix.

Grease cookie oven plate.

Mould mixture in to small balls and place in cookie tin.

Put in oven for 10 – 15 minutes.

Delicious!

“A little like round granola bars” my husband says.

Of course it wasn’t long before the birds caught sight of them…

Oh – make that a snake and a dog too!  🙂

(P.S. We didn’t really let the birds have any..!)
