Taking The Train To Grandma’s…

We travel by bus on a daily basis, and by car at the weekends, and often when we go in to town, by the underground train…

… but we NEVER travel by train!

So we decided we would!

🙂

And here it comes…!

The children made their own packed lunches for the journey – this made it even more exciting!

So much fun to watch the world speeding by…

Forty five minutes later we arrived – and grandma met us at the gates!

(And in case you’re wondering what Alfie is waving at – he’s waving at his shadow!)

Pieces Of Ice

On a family walk the other day we discovered the simplicities of playing with ice.

Maya and Ted had walked out on to the ice covered lake and collected pieces of ice, bringing them back on to the jetty…

IMG_4258

Ted found them difficult to grasp – he had trouble stopping the pieces slipping out of his hands…

A simple piece of ice is so interesting to investigate…

IMG_4262

Maya tried hard to make a sculpture, but it wasn’t quite cold enough and she could only manage to stack them…

IMG_4270

…but in the end she had to settle for drawing on the ice with a piece of coal she found…

…to draw a face…

..which she was very happy with !

Last Week Harold And His Purple Crayon Kept Us Company!

Harold from ‘Harold and the purple crayon’ kept us company last week…

IMG_3815

We explored making purple by mixing red and blue paint in our car tracks…

IMG_3791

IMG_3793

We found all the purple crayons, pens and pencils we could and drew Harold type pictures on lo-o-o-ong paper..

The dragon was of particular interest…

IMG_3812

…as was the hot air balloon…

IMG_3813

We drew purple pictures…

IMG_3818

…and did some purple collage…

(Okay, this was a mainly mummy creation!)

😮

We made tiny tiny purple books to write our own Harold stories in….

IMG_3820

…wore purple…

IMG_3822

…and because Harold’s pictures kind of reminded us of string, we even tried a spot of string painting…
