A Spring Walk In Skutans Gård

Spring is most definitely on its way.

The snow is slowly, but surely, melting.

We decided to go to skutansgard to ‘celebrate’ our warmest day so far.

It turned in to quite an adventure….

We walked across a slightly sodden swamp, where the ice was still (just about) firm enough to hold us…

…Maya, having already managed to accidently fill her boots with snow, and using plastic bags on her feet instead of socks, was a little more cautious…

…but it didn’t take her long to join the gang….

…and after spotting some elk poo in the snow…

…we soon came to a little island, where the snow had mostly melted…

…and a little brother had to be rescued by a big brother from sinking in to the slushy snow…

We admired the lake…

…spotted signs of a beaver…

…discovered a spider, who judging by his slow movement, had just come out of hibernation…

(can you just about see him?)

…and spotted our first ants of the year…

(of course, we can’t see them here, but after nearly 6 months of snow, you’d be excited too! 🙂 )

We even discovered a kind of ‘Spring fungi’…!

Then it was time for sausages in bread…

… and a little more climbing…
