A long awaited post – one that should have been written weeks a go! Now we’re on to our second week at home (where we’ve been enjoying lots of swimming trips, park trips, forest walks – and berry picking!), so I’d better get on to it….!
Skåne. What a beautiful part of Sweden. A seven hour car journey – but SO worth it!
On the drive there, we made a stop in Gränna, land of the ‘polkagrisar’, or the candy cane, as we know it…
Here, there were ‘factories’ (actually, kitchens in shops) making fresh ‘polkagris’, which we were lucky to watch….
…of course, we couldn’t leave without taking away some samples…..
….well it helped the car journey pass for a couple of hours..and despite the size of these things, the kids appeared not to get sugar crazed! Could it be that they were homemade perhaps?!
We made another stop at an elk park. Really a place for tourists, a huge area surrounded by fencing where the elks hung out…
…though the elks weren’t really living naturally, it passed as a good half an hour stop, we enjoyed watching an elk bath in a lake, and Ted enjoyed a row on a little elk…
….actually, saying that, so did the big kids….!
Before long we arrived at our little cottage….
….a tiny little cottage, which for added bonus had a giant swing in the garden….
…. a sandpit (behind which many dens were made under the bushes by Maya and Alfie)….
…..and can you believe we had sheep at the bottom of our garden?!
So you can guess where the kids went every morning straight after breakfast?! 🙂
