Skåne : Ale Stenar (Ale Stones)

Our first day discovering Skåne was spent on the beautiful coast line. A walk up through the valleys, past fields and sheep, to the cliff tops by the Ale stones….
(… and time to stop and play, as always!..)

The history of the 59 stones is uncertain. One could think the oval shape is a relic from Viking times, but apparently that is not so.
We had a picnic on the cliff top …..

The wildflowers, particularly the poppies, growing on the sides of the cliffs were stunning…

…and the three older kids really enjoying climbing up and down the safer cliff sides, throwing pebbles in to the sea, and checking out people’s artistic sculptures…..

Leon has recently decided that he would really like to become a nature photographer. Whether he will or not, I decided to loan him my camera. Here are the pictures he took….

We then took a walk down to a local (and very traditional) fishing village, where we ate, before talking a walk (and a paddle) along the coast back to the car…
