Pretty White Stars On A Winter Seasonal Shelf

Just before Christmas we made some beautiful white stars from cornflour, salt and water.

We mixed 125g cornflour, 250g salt and 350ml of water over a medium heat in a saucepan. When the mixture formed a dough, it was ready to form shapes from (add more cornflour if it’s too sticky). Then put them in the oven at 150C for about an hour (or more if needed).

Our original idea was to put holes in them and hang them as a mobile – but the holes closed up in the oven, and with our ski-ing trip, we didn’t have time to do anything with them.

However, we thought they were so pretty, and smooth, and we wanted to do something….so we painted them with a glue mixture of white glue and silver and blue glitter, and we added them to our seasonal shelf…

We think they look just lovely – especially with our paper snowflakes and fairy lights overhead… 🙂
