Teddy found a mud pool….
Eight months ago one of Alfie’s best friends, Joshua, moved away – something that upset Alfie, a friend he has missed so much.
I had promised him, that come the summer, we could take a train trip and visit him for a weekend – and so we did!
Leon decided it was important to take only five items for the overnight camp – after much discussion it was decided that the five items be :
I pointed out that water was missing – but Leon pointed out that they could get water from the outside tap.
Essentially the idea was to accomplish outdoor survival for 12 hours….
They set up the tent..
Well, Alfie didn’t quite make it through the night, but of course Leon and Maya did – though early morning didn’t really go as planned… Maya woke at 4.30am, and couldn’t go back to sleep due to hunger….
Lessons learned ;
1) Don’t skimp on food
2) Don’t put the tent up next to the road
“Probably easier to do it alone next time”, said Leon ‘Grylls’ … 😉
It’s been so incredibly hot here – I think we’ve been swimming almost every day…
…what better a time than to try out a few sun experiments…
…chocolate in bananas baking in the sun…?
It’s been over a week since we came back from our wonderful holiday in France – and I have so many lovely photos to share, that I just can’t decide which…hence my lack of recent post! 🙂
So I just wanted to pop in to wish my lovely boy a happy 13th birthday!
And just before dinner time, Leon, Maya and two of Leon’s close friends, went off to ‘Sushi Stugan’ (the Sushi Cottage), for a grown-up meal alone, before coming home to watch ‘The Hobbit 2’. A fantastic time was had by all!
Happy 13th Birthday Leon! We look forward to the teen years! 🙂
We’ve been busy this week.
Grandad came to stay….
The weather was not fantastic at the beginning of the week, so we went to the Technical Museum. Leon and Arun spent most of their time exploring on their own, so Grandad and I were with Alfie and Ted…
Ted thoroughly enjoyed the light table. It would be amazing to be able to make one!
Maya, our amazing Maya, did a theatre camp all week. It was her first experience of organised theatre, and it was hard going – all day, every day, with some evenings to boot! She was tired, but she enjoyed it and even made some new friends – and at the end of the week we got to see not one, but two performances of ‘The Brothers Lionheart’ by Astrid Lindgren…
The boy with the hat is Maya’s old childhood friend Ludvig, who she did the camp with. In the last picture they’re being given roses by the camp leaders. 🙂
This week Alfie (our entomologist) continued his study of bugs. Having moved on from snails and dung beetles, woodlice and ants have taken their place…
