“Run, run, as fast as you can…”

‘The Gingerbread Man’ is such an excellent repetitive book for small children – it’s little ‘ditty’ being one they can learn and repeat, and join in with, easily…

My book is very old, and has some very unusual pictures – all the animals in the story were in our animal box, so it made for a great ‘story table’….

….along with the playdough oven, and a little play dough gingerbread man….

Of course ‘Mr & Mrs Pepper Kaka’ had to be with too….”

Following many readings of the story, we made some gingerbread play-dough….

…such a wonderful smell! Ground ginger, nutmeg and cinnamon!
And then time to play…

Of course, for someone who loves the play kitchen as much as Ted does, we couldn’t go without ‘making’ gingerbread biscuits….

And last, but not least, gingerbread man collage! Using some pre-cut gingerbread people cutouts, some buttons and plastic eyes, some shiny glittery ‘snow’ stickers, some woodland animal stickers, and a strong piece of cardboard….

….Ted designed his own ‘story picture’ – the gingerbread men are running through the snowy forest to get away from the animals – the fox stops and waits…..
One of my favourite children’s pictures of all time! 🙂
