…and a visit from a local inhabitant, ‘Ben the dog’, as he has come to be known as….

…we decided to take a drive to ‘Rovinj’. Rovinj was originally an island where Romans built a harbour town. During 1763 it was built to be connected to the mainland. The Venetians ruled the town between 1283 – 1797, and therefore the town has much Venetian inspired architecture.
We had lunch…

..many boats…

Beautiful buildings, narrow streets, tunnels and steep hills to climb the top…

..and saw that the number four was indeed written as four strikes….

IMG_7403
A mystery as yet unsolved (if you read yesterdays post!). Any ideas?!

IMG_7409
…a roman type arch…

IMG_7410
…traditional fishing boat…

IMG_7411
…beautiful wooden boat being painted (this reminded me of a picture in a Richard Scarry book which is why I took the picture 😉)….

IMG_7414
..and finally, after that long hot walk, a swim in the sea was essential…
