More Spring Things This Week!

This week we (Maya and I) have continued with Easter crafts, mainly in the name of pompoms…

And Ted has been continuing with Easter eggs…in clay form…

…and biscuit form…

Alfie has, as always, been drawing drawing drawing…..

I love our tulips…

…and as well as playing lots of lego (and some Mario!) with Leon, he has been enjoying lots of outdoor play with his friend Lilly…

Alfie so much prefers the sunshine. 🌞

The kids have played with friends, and yesterday Ted and I truly enjoyed a neighbourhood walk to feed a neighbour’s rabbit…

Admiring neighbour’s decorated Easter houses…

Having fun with a neighbour’s cat in the sunshine…

(Ted just happened to have a rope with him 😏)

…feeding the rabbits in their posh ‘hutch’ – though they didn’t want to be seen….

..playing on the rocks…

…and watching the water in our neighbour’s backyard lake…..

We are so lucky to live in an area where wildlife is so ripe, in so many different ways – and I’m so happy the sun is finally starting to shine! πŸ˜„

So Far This Week…

…it has been busy.

It seems a week that has been taken up ‘preparing’. For english lessons and for scout meetings.

The weekend taken up by swimming classes and piano lessons and things that ‘need to be done’. Richard took the older boys to ‘Kidshack’ and later he and Leon had a trip to the cinema.

But I had the joy of taking Ted to a playpark in town…

Always interesting to see that he gravitated towards the ‘natural’ play areas such as the rocks and the hills, and mostly avoided the ‘man made’ play equipment. A child who feels at home in nature. Like his mum! 😊

On Sunday we ‘celebrated’ Earth Hour….

..and the older members in the family discovered (and really enjoyed) Maya’s new game ‘Suspense’…

It snowed again…

…and then the snow melted and the sun came out…

Ted has been making the most of being able to ride a scooter, and it’s come everywhere with us..

We’ve been decorating the house for Easter….

…and starting Easter crafts at home…

…and at scouts (I had the joy of having both Maya and Alfie in my group this week πŸ˜„πŸ‘)….

….and while the older kids have been at school, Ted and I have been drawing…

….and threading…

…and learning to write simple words…

Today is ‘SkΓ€rtorsdag’, officially the beginning of the Swedish Easter celebrations, when children dress up as Easter witches and go from door to door delivering cards in return for sweets. It’s a full day at school however, so we’ll get busy making cards and dressing up when the kids come home. πŸ˜„

This Last Week (or so)….

I’ve been a little behind at posting – mostly because I’ve been ill – so very ill – with a terrible sore throat and a terrible cough. Ted had it last week, and Alfie over the half term. I hope no-one else gets it…

Anyway, Richard has been away in the US, and my mum has been to stay. It’s been one of those chaotic weeks, with sick people, sleepless nights and argumentative little ones especially… But I suppose, some weeks are like that…

Still, we had some nice moments…at the ‘TjΓ€derstigen’ in Tyresta park…

…doing Easter crafts at the church playgroup…

…hanging out by the river in the forest…

…a trip to the aquarium….

….and to the local play park…

Alfie was proud of his bag he had sewn at scouts…

 Maya turned 12…

…and we have been looking for, and finding, signs of Spring….

And so that was this week…. 😊

This Week : 18th Jan…

This week Ted started back at playgroup, and the others are still settling back in to school and other activities, in their second week. Darkness still prevails much of the day, and it is still absolutely freezing outside (on average around -10 C), so everyone is still feeling pretty slow and tired.. πŸŒπŸ’€

Alfie started at ‘Star Wars Club’ at school this week, which he thought was absolutely brilliant! This has inspired a lot of lego Star Wars play, along with Ted…..

On Wednesday evening Alfie and I went sledging with the scouts, and although he enjoyed it, he was probably more enthusisatic about the amazing snow crystals that had formed…which we observed in the evening…

….also in the day….

…and writing in the frosty crystals on the postbox…

As always, Alfie has been enjoying ‘Geometry Dash’ and designing is own levels – on paper as well as on screen….πŸ˜„

And as always, Alfie has had lots of friends to play!

This week Ted has been much inspired by Egyptian drawings (although he keeps calling them Indian!), and insists on me printing lots out for him to colour in…

….which inspires him to draw his own…

He also has a fun day out at an indoor play place with his friends Alice and Noelia…

Leon and Maya have been working hard at school and english lessons, afterschool activities and spending time with friends – and Maya starts her first piano lesson tomorrow! πŸ˜„

So that is this week so far! πŸ‘πŸ˜†

This Week : 11th January

This week was the first week back at school for the older kids, though Ted starts playgroup next week.

This week was a very wintery week. A week for outside winter walks….

..and a week for discovering ice on the lake, and icicles….

It has been VERY cold, down to – 18 C some days, and on those days we have made indoor snowmen…

…or gone to the library…

Activities started up again – English club (see next post) ; a very cold scout evening where we cooked blueberry soup and pinnbrΓΆd (stick bread) over a camp fire in the forest at -15 C ;  and theatre club again for both Maya and Alfie – including a performance this weekend for Maya ; and of course riding for Maya, in which the horses had icicles hanging off their nose hairs…. 😳

…and of course friends – always lots of friends to play! πŸ˜ƒ

This Week…

This week I took Alfie and Ted to ‘Disney On Ice’…

They loved it – but especially Ted, who came home, dressed up as a pirate-princess, and brought snow in from outside and spread it all over the living room floor, determined to make his own ‘Disney on Ice’…πŸ˜†

This week was ‘Epiphany’, and so we had a ‘King’s cake’, and Maya got the bean, so she will decide what we do as a family on Sunday.

This week we had snow. Lots of it…

..so we’ve been outside a lot.

This week it’s also been very cold, down to minus 10 degrees C, so we’ve been lighting the open fire…

And this week the kids went back to school, leaving in the darkness and the cold, on Thursday morning…

…and the ‘talk of the town’ back at school, was the little house that almost got burnt down opposite the school. Alfie and Maya can’t stop looking at it, and wondering what happened…..

…a real lesson in leaving lit candles in rooms on their own perhaps?

So that was this week. 😊

Kids Chores

My husband is very organised, and with that very good at making things creatively using the computer.

So he came up with a chore chart for the kids, in order to get their pocket money…

Leon and Maya must complete fourteen chores in a week, and when completed, put the card in the box. Alfie must complete seven. And their pocket money amount will be given to them according to how many chores they completed…

Ted will also do chores, but as he does not yet receive pocket money, it will be more ‘practice for fun’ for him.. 😊

I wonder how it will go? πŸ˜ƒ
