Troll Park

We’ve been here a few times, but Ted really wanted to come again. I think he has a certain respect for the troll….

It’s always nice to know as well, that in Stockholm, you are never far from nature, and never far from water…

Stockholm is a beautiful place, it has to be said… 😊

Tyresta National Park

Yesterday Ted and I enjoyed the company of ‘scout’ Janne P, and went, first to the farm at Tyresta, and then on to the frog pond, past the bee hives, and on to the bird tower.

It was a fabulous trip, and nice to see an area undiscovered by our family….

I can’t believe, that this Spring, Ted and I have seen so many baby animals! Ducklings, chicks, goslings, kids, piglets and lambs! Fabulous!

Easter Sunday Walk…

…the whole family with farmor, in the national park at Nacka, HellasgΓ₯rden….

Starting with lunch at the log cabin restaurant (I love this place!)…

We then went for a lovely walk..

Richard taking photos too….πŸ˜†

Lots of tree climbing (and tree hiding)…

…tramping through the mud (Ted lost his boot!)…

…and general running and jumping! πŸ˜„

Spring is certainly on it’s way. We spied a few Spring flowers…but it was very windy, and there is still lots of ice on the lake!

Still, it was lovely to be out! πŸ˜€

Teddy Tries To Skate..

So the lake has frozen over, and we wanted to try Teddy with a spot of first time ice-skating…

Alfie wanted so much for his brother to skate like him, and waited patiently…

There was a lot of falling – from Richard too, as he tried to keep Teddy upright. Teddy kept trying to sit down while skating – we kept telling him “there’s nothing to sit on”… πŸ˜‰
Eventually Alfie’s patience ran out and he skated off…

IMG_5298.JPG
..and after a while Teddy, who desperately wanted to skate as fast as Alfie, had had enough for one day, and shoes were decidedly better for ‘skating’ on…

IMG_5309.JPG
…much easier to go further ‘afield’… πŸ˜‰
Soon, time for hot chocolate and saffron buns..

IMG_5316.JPG
…and a little climb…

IMG_5310.JPG
..while we admired the beauty of the ice and the sun went down..

Hope you get a chance to skate too! 😘

A Late Summer Walk

It’s been a long late summer – who would have thought that it could be so warm still in September in Sweden? But that warmth is predicted soon to end, so we made the most of the last day by getting down to the sea, by Nickelviken, in Nacka.

Maya and Alfie enthused at the waves caused by the speed boats…

IMG_3944.JPG
Ted and I discovered wonderful ‘secret’ coves…

IMG_3947.JPG

IMG_3948.JPG
Alfie discovered ‘stensΓΆta’ – an edible root from the forest..

IMG_3951.JPG

IMG_3952.JPG
The beautiful, but dangerous ‘flugsvamp’ is making its autumn comeback…

IMG_3954.JPG
There was time for a ‘fika’ (snack) on the cliffs..

IMG_3960.JPG

IMG_3959.JPG
…and for looking at interesting fungi..

IMG_3962.JPG
…here is Leon’s photo..

IMG_3965.JPG
Due to the dry summer, we’ve had no luck with blueberries this year – but Alfie filled his basket with mushrooms – edible or not, he doesn’t care – the picking and finding in itself is the fun bit!

IMG_3963.JPG

IMG_3966.JPG
And at the end of the walk, Maya and Alfie amused and charmed passersby , by finding, hanging up, spreading out and drying, huge pieces of bright green pond weed on the railings….

It was extremely funny to have people stop and take photographs of them doing this, and one lady from America, remarked at how wonderfully ‘old fashioned’ they were and how simply they played…it made me proud…and of course, lots of pond weed came home with us! Maya was planning on making a mat – Alfie a t-shirt for Ted… πŸ˜‰
