I love them! Though Maya still has to finish hers today (she paints carefully and with such precision that it tends to take a longer time for her to complete things 😊).
With an Easter egg hunt (clues to be read and understood in English) at the end, it felt like a successful two weeks.. πŸ‘

A Morning Of Storytelling And Coffee Filter Easter Eggs!

On Sunday Ted got unwell with a stomach bug, so yesterday we stayed at home, and had a bit of a ‘story telling’ morning…
I started with drawing a basket of eggs on the chalkboard…

IMG_6428
…and asked him what they were. “Eggs for Easter” came the reply, and then we talked about what Easter was and how and why we celebrate it.
Ted went to get some eggs from our chickens then…

IMG_6429
Very rarely does he drop an egg, but this time he dropped not one but two. There was lots of explanation then, about how one egg smashed and all the ‘slimey’ stuff came out, and so he left it there – and how the other egg had a crack in it now. We talked about the colour of the eggs, the size of the eggs, and that the outside was called a shell. Then we cracked them open…

IMG_6431
..and talked about the yellow being called the ‘yolk’ and how if our hens had a cockerel, the yellow could have been a chick.
Then I asked him how he would like to eat his egg, and the answer was scrambled – and so we made scrambled eggs..

After lunch we read simple counting poems about rabbits and lambs (Ted’s recently been interested in ‘amounts’ and using his fingers to count).
After some fantastic art work, using dampened egg shaped coffee filter and watered down food colouring…

..which look beautiful on the window of our nature shelf…

IMG_6452

IMG_6451
..we finally finished with a story I told about the arrival of Spring…

IMG_6445

IMG_6446

..which Ted then decided to retell (using, bizarrely, a packet of wet cat food as a prop!!!)…

A lovely morning with a lovely boy! 😊❀️

‘Pitter Patter’ Painting!

We don’t get a huge amount of rain in Sweden, so when we do, it’s sometimes nice to ‘use’ it in an activity!
We tried ‘pitter patter’ painting…

IMG_6409

IMG_6410

IMG_6411

IMG_6412
…put them outside in the rain on a makeshift table…

IMG_6413
..left them in the rain for a few hours, and brought them inside again…

IMG_6434
Simple, interesting, fun! πŸ˜„πŸŽ¨

Beautiful Daffodils

We’ve really been enjoying the daffodils on the table…

IMG_6405
..and Ted’s really been enjoying looking through this book..

IMG_6408
..and has been insisting on making these crΓ©pe paper daffodils…

IMG_6407
The project was way too tricky for Ted, but fun for me to do..

IMG_6406
..and later I got Ted to help make a more simpler version, which he was very happy with πŸ˜‰

Gorgeous! πŸ’πŸ˜˜

Constructing Straws

Alfie has always loved this straw art kit, but his construction tends to go so far as an umbrella (or any kind of spinning thing with a handle!). Ted discovered the fun of these yesterday, and went all out with his ‘machine’…

IMG_6380
It was interesting to see how he was able to construct something, with an awareness of balance and how he needed to build it to make it stand up.
I’ve never been too impressed with this construction toy admittedly, but I guess the kids have other feelings! πŸ˜œπŸ˜„πŸš§βš οΈ

We learnt about the plant liquorice – and bought some seeds…

IMG_6348
We saw liquorice paintings…

IMG_6335

IMG_6336

IMG_6337

IMG_6338
Alfie made his own lollipops…

IMG_6345

IMG_6346
Maya and Ted made their own liquorice sculptures….

IMG_1049

IMG_1055

IMG_1043

IMG_1041

IMG_1047
…as did Alfie…

IMG_1036

IMG_6360

IMG_6361
There was free samples and free tasting galore! “I think I’ve gone off liquorice a bit now” said Leon when we left! πŸ˜‰
Arriving at the opening time was just about right, as it was packed with people when we left….

IMG_6356
…and all that liquorice left us exhausted..

IMG_6339
…but it was a great experience…

IMG_6347
…and I recommend it! πŸπŸ¬πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘
